TPL’s running partnership with the New York Road Runners has garnered a mutually-beneficial relationship to strengthen community ties. In the past year , we have opened 3 new school playgrounds together, laying down new race tracks for Rising New York Road Runners. NYRR has recently rebooted their youth program, providing new free resources for coaches and educators, including everything from P.E. lesson plans to nutrition activities. The youth programs are designed around the development of physical literacy. They are inclusive of all levels of athleticism and abilities (Check out the NYRR Youth Wheelchair Training Program here!). On their website, it is noted that in the last year, NYRR and teachers got over 267,000 kids moving. Hear some inspiring teacher testimonies here.

This exciting partnership has yielded three playgrounds so far—CS 154 in Harlem, PS 120 in Flushing, Queens, and the Piagentini and Jones Educational Complex, which houses three schools on a shared campus in the Throggs Neck neighborhood of the Bronx (PS 392, IS 467, and IS 371). Look out for a few more site supported by NYRR this Fall!
