On June 18th, the New York City Playgrounds team opened the PS 19 Community Playground, providing 60,000 East Village residents with a new place to play.
The green infrastructure at PS 19, a turn field, tree, garden, permeable pavement, and a green-roof gazebo, will capture 800,000 gallons of stormwater per year.

The schoolyard is directly across the street from the Sirovich Senior Center. They are already in discussion with the PS 19 Principal to plan some combined programming for the Fall.
